Google has started rolling out its Android cross-device services for supported Android devices. There are currently two features in the Android cross-device services; both were first announced at Google I/O in May. These two features are called Call casting and Interner sharing. These features allow users to switch between different devices while using certain apps or performing certain tasks.

Announced at Google I/O in May, these features were in the testing phase and now the company has started rolling out these features for the supported Android devices. To use these features, users first need to enable cross-device services on their supported Android devices. These two are the first cross-device services for the company. The search giant has announced that more features will be rolled out in the future.

Google cross-device sharing features

On an Android support page, Google announced the roll-out of cross-device services. As per the announcement, Call casting lets you switch video calls “from your device to another device with the same Google Account… for example, a video calling app may let you cast your call to another device and the app will show a list of your nearby devices that you can cast to.” Currently, this feature is only available for Google Meet only. To use this feature, users have to select the cast button while having both devices close to switch calls between devices.

The second feature is internet sharing which lets users “automatically share hotspot access with your own devices.” Google said, “It works with Chromebooks and Android devices signed into your Google Account, provided you have Bluetooth and device location enabled. It doesn’t work with Samsung devices, though, so Google suggests using the auto-hotspot feature instead.”

The Android cross-device services are currently available for those Android tablets and smartphones that are running on Android 11 or later. Also, the supported devices will have the Google Play services version 24.28.34 to run the cross-device service smoothly.

The search giant also wrote that when these services are enabled, other devices might be able to see the user’s device name and other information.

How to Turn On Android Cross-Device Service?
