Microsoft is reportedly planning to let all games exclusive to its Xbox to be shared across PlayStation and Nintendo, to increase the revenue margin!
While the Redmond has publicly stated sharing four games with PlayStation, an internal report claim there’s no red line for which games Xbox can launch on rival platforms. Though it may increase the company’s earnings in the short-term, it may dent its growth in the long run, says experts.
Killing the Xbox Exclusivity
With weakened sales and tough competition from rivals, Microsoft is doing one damn thing it shouldn’t be doing – sharing its games with rivals to grow financially in the short term! As noted by Windows Central, Microsoft is pushing for a no ‘red line’ on the games it shares with its rival platforms!
Dubbed ‘Latitude‘, the internal operation has reportedly sparked “debate and unease” within the company at whether the move makes sense. Although Microsoft has publicly stated sharing four Xbox games with PlayStation and Nintendo, the company is reportedly letting all the Xbox games to be played on PlayStation and Nintendo!
While this move can help multiplatform titles like Sea of Thieves and Grounded – to gain more players, sharing titles like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment were debatable, as were already hit on Xbox. Well, the report states the reason is for increasing the revenue margins! If that’s so, Microsoft may definitely see these coming up on their financial statements, but it’ll also hit the Xbox’s growth in the long run.
