Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at its Unpacked event held in Paris on Wednesday. These two foldable succeeded last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Flip 5. However, if you look closely, there are some minor upgrades between the two generations but a significant upgrade in terms of pricing. Samsung has jacked up the prices of its latest foldable compared to last year’s model. In this article, we will share details about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Specifications:
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a book-style folding device that looks quite similar to its predecessor as there are not many changes to the design and look of the device. The device has a 6.3-inch full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover display with a 968×2,376 pixels resolution. When unfolded, the device has an inner display of a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display panel. The inner display has a pixel density of 374 ppi and a pixel resolution of 1,856×2,160 pixels. Both displays have a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that switches between 1Hz to 120Hz.
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy Mobile platform chipset paired with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. This chipset is made in collaboration between Qualcomm and Samsung for the Samsung Galaxy smartphones and is the slightly clocked-up version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Users can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. It runs on One UI 6.1.1 on top of Android 14 out of the box with promised future security and Android updates.
For optics, a triple rear camera system is headlined by a 50MP primary wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization, and an f/1.8 aperture. The primary sensor is paired with a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 123-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto lens. For selfies, both displays have a front camera. On the cover display, there is a 10MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture, while the inner display has a 4MP under-display camera with f/2.8 aperture.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 packs a 4,400 mAh battery with 25W wired fast charging support. There is no charger included in the retail box, so users have to purchase the 25W fast charger separately. There is also support for fast Wireless charging 2.0 and wireless powershare for charging other devices wirelessly.
Other specifications include IP68 water and dust resistance, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, LTE, and all other sensors.
Pricing:
The device is available in three colors that are Silver Shadow, Navy, and Pink. The base variant 12GB + 256GB storage is priced at $1,899 which is $100 more than the base variant of the previous generation. For 512GB, and 1TB storage variants, users have to pay $2,019, and $2,259 respectively.
